If you haven't tried Smore to create your library newsletters, you should! Great tool, easy to use, and gives you stats on how many people have read your newsletter, plus how much time they spent on it. Here's an example of my latest newsletter. Oh and they also make it easy to share your creations, embed on a website, email to a list, or share the link in a tweet. Seriously, what are you waiting for? Tell people about your wonderful library students.
The Warwick librarians collaborated on the information in the presentation below. We used it as a tool to promote the importance of the library program to the school administrators. I have made it accessible to you to copy and then edit to fit your needs.
Make sure you are leading the way with technology. Librarians Lead the Way is a great article by Tech& Learning. Share it with your administrators and faculty. "Shout it from the rooftops!"
Great library promo spot to add to your library page. Thanks CommonCraft! Kentucky Teacher posted an article outlining why teachers need to collaborate with their school librarians. Short and sweet... glad the Kentucky teachers are articulating what the LMS in their building can do for them. Great how many people retweeted this article by Kentucky Teacher of the Year, Kimberly Shearer. It is all over the twitter-sphere this morning! Mrs. Castro If you haven't started a Twitter feed yet, maybe you should. School Librarians of Rhode Island (@SchLibRI) may just retweet a promotional link or item that you write and send it out to the other librarians in RI. Recently, I tweeted about my book blog and was retweeted by SLRI. Now, I've seen some comments on the blog about "avid readers" that I know must be written by other LMS's and not my students. LOL
Twitter is also a great way for secondary to poll students, or have students poll each other! Give it a try, it's free and easy. You may even want to join in and try a Twitter Chat. Here are a few to consider. #EDchatRI = tune into twitter with this hashtag on Sunday nights at 8PM to listen, learn, or add to the discussion of educators in RI. #PTChat = Wednesday nights at 9:00, chat with parents and teachers in real time.
