Use Wordle to find out what's really important in a document or on a webpage.  Cut and paste text into Wordle and whatever words occur with the most frequency appear the largest on the resulting image.  Choose fonts, shapes and colors to get a pleasing image.  Below is the RITI Rhode Island Unit of Study.  

Want to let your students have a little fun?  Introduce a lesson with ToonDoo, which allows you to create and save a cartoon.  Capture the embed code and put it on your website, or just share the cartoon with a class.  The students will like trying it themselves.  It's easy and even better, it's free!

There's a great new tool for presenting information to students or teachers.  It's sort of a zooming PowerPoint that changes directions.  Free, just sign up and start creating.  I'm going to give you a link to a great example by Peter Pappas.  He uses Prezi to create an instructional video on The Reflective School.

One of the first things you might want to do is start a Google account to collect RSS feeds.  If you go to Google Reader and set up an account, you can click on the RSS feed (orange square in the right column).  Save and paste the target into your Google Reader account and then whenever anyone posts some new content to the blog, you'll get an email.  Start collecting the RSS feeds from your favorite blogs to help you stay up-to-date on technology.

This is also a great way to keep track of student posts to a blog.  You'll probably want to share weebly with your students.  With Google Reader you'll always know when they are adding content to their pages.  One place to check, instead of a whole class of student websites.
